Redbeard Racing: Eddie

Where did you grow up?
Born in Moldova and raised in Brooklyn. My family is part of the huge wave of immigrants that arrived on the shores of the NYC in the early 90s, with the exodus of Ashkenazi Jews from the former Soviet Eastern bloc.

When and where did you first learn to ride a bike?
First learned to ride in Soroca, Moldova in the court yards of a communal apartment block.

How did you get into track racing?
Due to the encouragement of my dear friend, brother, and teammate Ros and the wide support of my friends at Redbeard Bikes.

Do you have a pre-race ritual?
Clean bike, poop, sleep, poop, avocado, gel.

How do you take your coffee?
Black.

Tell us about your track bike(s) and why you love it/them.
Cannondale Capo. She’s light, nimble, and quick on her toes.

What do you do to pay the bills?
Electrical Engineer in the utility industry. Engineer, design, construction and commission high-voltage electrical substations for the transmission and distribution of electricity from its source of generation and down to the customer.

And the most important question: lock-ring or no lock-ring?
That’s too personal.
