Ride In Peace, Steph

We are heartbroken to share that Stephanie Che passed away suddenly on January 1, 2021.

Many of you knew Steph well from your visits to the shop. Steph was warm and generous and funny. Hardworking, principled and loyal. She was forever bringing us sweets from Chinatown and Wegman’s and everywhere in between, tempting us with chewy ginger candies and Trader Joe’s gummies. She loved bikes, she had a fleet of maybe half a dozen. She loved mountain-biking, especially on the Kingdom Trails in Vermont. In her spare time, she baked bread (long before the pandemic made it popular), sewed (one project was a backpack to carry Carlo, her beloved cockapoo), and volunteered at the LES Ecology Center. She was full of life and energy. She is survived by Ian, her husband, and Carlo.

Steph was with us at Redbeard for two-and-a-half years. We can’t imagine returning to the shop in March, and her not being there.
